HubAuto Announce Driver Line-up for the 24H of Le Mans:

Morris Chen, Marcos Gomes and Tom Blomqvist

Taiwan (August 5, 2020) Receiving an automatic entry invitation to the prestigious 24 Hour of Le Mans would be a dream for most racing teams and drivers. This dream became a reality for Morris Chen, Team Principal and owner of HubAuto Racing after winning the 2019/2020 Asian Le Mans Series in the Ferrari 488 GT3. HubAuto Racing won the championship in the GT category and will race the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LM GTE AM category with the 488 GTE, car number 72. Morris Chen is pleased to confirm he will be uniting with drivers Marcos Gomes and Tom Blomqvist for this challenging event.

“Le Mans is an impressive event and it has been a dream of mine to drive my own car with my own Taiwanese team at the Circuit de la Sarthe. I have been fortunate enough to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans once before, being the first Taiwanese driver to do so. Now the excitement is even greater as I can proudly say this is my team.” Morris said.

Returning to the team is Marcos Gomes, who was part of the Asian Le Mans Series winning driver line-up for HubAuto. Marcos has done an excellent job and the team is very happy to continue the great working relationship.

New to the team is talented British GT driver, Tom Blomqvist. Tom brings a wealth of GT racing experience having competed in several global GT championships and the team is very happy to have him onboard.

“I am very confident and delighted with our line-up with two highly experienced drivers. Marcos has been fast in the Ferrari, having driven with us in the endurance events of Asian Le Mans Series and Blancpain GT Asia. I’ve also watched Tom from afar and can see his talent, so I believe we have a very strong line-up.” Chen said.

Technical Director for HubAuto, Phillip Di Fazio agrees with Morris and believes they have a strong car that will stand up well against the competition. “You can see from our past credentials in Asia that we have an exceptionally competitive car. The team have had a short break during the pandemic and we are all itching to get out onto the Le Mans circuit.”

Cyrille Taesch Wahlen, Managing Director Asian Le Mans Series is pleased to have HubAuto participating at Le Mans: “HubAuto Racing were thrilling to watch during the 2019/2020 Asian Le Mans Series, winning the Championship with victory in the final round. We look forward to watching them race in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, and wish the whole team the best of luck for this exciting challenge!”

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world’s oldest endurance race. Normally held in France, in June of each year, the 88th 24 Hours of Le Mans has been rescheduled to September. Chen commended this year’s race. “Considering the global pandemic restrictions, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has done a tremendous job in organising this year’s event which maintains a complete field of leading local and international teams and drivers. HubAuto are looking forward to this exciting event.”

The 24 Hours of Le Mans, France takes place on the 19th-20th September 2020, commencing at 14:30 (CEST).
